O akci

V rámci nové přednáškové série Medicina per Scientiam vás zveme na úvodní přednášku „From the Operating Room to the Laboratory and Back“, která se zaměří na boj s jedním z nejzhoubnějších nádorů současnosti – rakovinou slinivky břišní. Šest řečníků, od předních odborníků až po medického studenta, představí, jak úzce spolupracují chirurgové a vědci na cestě od operačního sálu do laboratoře a zpět k pacientovi. Přednáška proběhne 7. října od 16:00 v Burianově posluchárně a bude vedena v anglickém jazyce.

Ve zkratce

  • Představení aktuálních poznatků o chirurgické léčbě rakoviny slinivky břišní od předního českého odborníka prof. MUDr. Martina Oliveria, PhD.
  • Pohled na roli robotické chirurgie v léčbě pankreatu s přednáškou doc. MUDr. Zdeňka Šubrta, PhD.
  • Výzkum biomarkerů a nových léčiv s prof. RNDr. Pavlem Součkem, CSc., a RNDr.

We are pleased to invite you to the first lecture of our new Medicina per Scientiam series titled: "From the Operating Room to the Laboratory and Back."

Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers of our time, and progress against it depends on surgeons and scientists working as one team. In this lecture, six speakers, from leading professors to a medical student, will show how that cooperation works across the whole path from the operating room to the laboratory and back to the patient:

• prof. MUDr. Martin Oliverius, PhD, FEBS
"Pancreatic Cancer: "The Killer of the 21st Century" and Its Surgical Management"
A leading Czech HPB surgeon, Professor of Surgery at the Third Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Hepato-pancreato-biliary Surgery Section of the Czech Surgical Society. Before focusing on complex liver, pancreatic and biliary cancer surgery, he helped develop intestinal and multivisceral transplantation at IKEM.

• assoc. prof. MUDr. Zdeněk Šubrt, PhD, FEBS
"The Role of Robotic Surgery in Pancreatic Surgery"
Head of the Department of Surgery at the Third Faculty of Medicine and University Hospital Královské Vinohrady, and a former military surgeon deployed in Afghanistan. He specialises in hepato-pancreato-biliary and minimally invasive surgery.

• prof. RNDr. Pavel Souček, CSc.
"Biomarkers in Pancreatic Cancer"
Head of the Pharmacogenomics Lab at the Biomedical Center in Pilsen, who trained as a postdoc at Vanderbilt University. He has published more than 250 papers, cited over 8,000 times, and is a founding member of the PANDORA consortium.

• RNDr. Radka Václavíková, PhD
"Stony Brook Taxanes and Gemcitabine Derivatives as Potential Effective Drugs for the Treatment of Highly Aggressive and Resistant Tumors"
Head of the Department of Toxicogenomics at the National Institute of Public Health, researching why solid tumours become resistant to treatment. She is a member of the European STRATAGEM consortium on multidrug resistance in cancer and supervises PhD students at Charles University.

• MUDr. Tomáš Sychra
"Patient-Derived Xenografts of Pancreatic Cancer"
A surgical resident and PhD candidate at the Third Faculty of Medicine. He trained in the Clinical Science Scholars Program at Harvard Medical School and completed a hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery and transplantation observership at Cleveland Clinic.

• Matěj Vícha
A medical student at the Third Faculty of Medicine who began research in high school at institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences, working on antimicrobial peptides. Now he focused on pancreatic cancer.

The event will take place on 07/10 at 16:00 in Burian Lecture Hall. The talk will be conducted in English.

We look forward to seeing you there!
